FAQs
-
How do I pay for classes?
You can pay by e-transfer to "avantedancecompany@gmail.com", with credit cards securely through this site, or by debit, credit cards or cash in class.
-
Do you provide refunds?
We do not provide partial refunds for any missed classes within our 4- or 8-week courses (i.e., if a student has been attending a multi-week course and misses a class). Every registered course participant will receive a video summary of each class upon request, and core concepts are reviewed across multiple classes.
Full course refunds are available for 4- or 8-week courses if requested at least 72 hours prior to the start of the first class.
8-pack drop-in packages have a timeline of 3 months to be used. If a student cannot use the package within that timeline, we can transfer unused drop-in classes to another person (one-time exception per student).

Do I need a partner?
Nope! Feel free to come by yourself. We do frequent partner changes, so you'll get to practice everything we teach with others in the class.
-
Do I need dance shoes?
Dance shoes help with proper technique, but are not needed to start. A pair of shoes that don't have a strong grip will be fine. Please bring a separate pair of indoor shoes for the wooden floor of the dance studio as street shoes are not permitted.
-
Do you do workshops at local events?
We do! We often do workshops at local events for attendees to sample our teaching style. If you'd like us to do a workshop at your event (dance social), please contact us and we can work out the details.
-
Do you have a special night out for students to go dancing?
We do not at the moment, but we do host a Guided Practice session. This a 1 hour timeslot where students can practice what they've learned in class, while also being able to ask questions and receive feedback from the instructor in the session. Check our schedule for more information.

Where can I go social dancing?
Social dancing is central to putting what you've learned to practice. The most popular socials are Toronto Dance Fridays, Dovercourt House Sunday evenings, and Fiesta-X Saturdays. For club dancing Thursdays at El Rancho and weekends at Lula Lounge for live salsa music are popular options.
Socials are a little different from club dancing: Socials focus on social dancing and an environment conducive to social dancing (smooth wooden floors, higher ceilings, large space, less drinking), whereas club dancing caters more to a mixed dancing and drinking crowd. We enjoy both - it totally depends on your mood! -
Do you offer private classes?
Yes! Any of our instructors would be happy to work with you to offer a customized learning experience through private classes. Contact us to discuss availability.

-
Can we hire you to perform at our event?
